Surf Relief UK (SRUK), formed in January 2005 to
help co-ordinate the UK surfing communities’
response to the Asian Tsunami of Boxing day 2004.
As a result the organisation achieve a great deal in
a short period of time raising over £40,000. This
money made real impact on the East coast of Sri
Lanka. The organisation has constructed houses,
built part of orphanage and school, employed
teachers and as helped a number of small businesses.
90% of funds that have been raised through the
generosity of the surfing community have been used
on projects on the ground.
Surf Relief UK is now a registered charity. Having
experienced the generosity of the surfing community
organisers realised that there was potential to
raise further funds for other projects.

Quote from Dave Manley (SRUK Chairman)
‘The money we collect provides a lasting tribute
to the generosity the UK’s surfing community. 90% of
all money donated has been used to fund our projects
and we hope that we can continue to support needy
causes in the
future both in the UK and
abroad
acting as The UK’s
surfing charity’ |
